Our history... Located in the town of Tonasket, the original hospital began in 1937 as St. Martin's Hospital and was operated by the Dominican Sisters. The building was replaced in 1952 by a 48 bed in-patient hospital.
In 1972 the local communities voted to form Okanogan County Public Hospital District #4 and the hospital was re-named North Valley Hospital. Since then about two-thirds of North Valley Hospital services are out-patient services (such as X-ray, laboratory, surgery, emergency room, etc.) requiring the current 25 licensed in-patient beds.
A 43 bed nursing home, constructed in the 1930’s, was also operated by the Dominican Sister’s. Determining the districts needs, the commissioners of North Valley Hospital District constructed North Valley Nursing Home, a 70 bed facility, in 1985. North Valley Nursing Home was renamed North Valley Extended Care in January, 2006.
Oroville Family Medical Clinic was built in 1992 to provide a full range of clinical services to the Oroville and outlying communities.
In the 1990’s assisted living facilities was a new concept. Assisted Livings are long term healthcare facilities providing assistance, as needed, to aging adults, while respecting their privacy and independence. After much research, the Board of Commissioners voted to move forward and construct North Valley Assisted Living in 1998 in Tonasket.
