NVH Newsletter April 2025
Cerner:
In our January newsletter, we shared that we were quickly approaching the launch of new electronic health record (EHR), and today is the day!
Our current system has served us well, but it no longer meets the growing needs of our hospital or our patients. The Cerner system will bring:
Better care coordination across all departments and providers
Improved accuracy and access to your health records
Enhanced communication between you and your care team
A more seamless experience from registration to follow-up
Cerner also supports our revenue cycle operations, meaning:
More accurate insurance claims
Faster and clearer billing
Timelier and easier-to-understand patient statements
In short, the new system is designed to reduce billing errors and help you get the information you need about your healthcare costs without delay or confusion.
What to Expect During the Transition:
As with any major change, there will be a period of adjustment. You may notice:
Slightly longer appointment times while staff get comfortable with the new system
Increased screen time during visits as your provider inputs information
A new patient portal experience, with instructions provided on how to access your health records, test results, and billing information
We ask for your patience during this time — our team is working hard to ensure a smooth and successful transition.
How This Benefits You:
When the transition is complete, you’ll benefit from:
Faster access to test results and visit notes
Improved billing accuracy and faster statements
A more connected care experience, whether you’re seeing one provider or several
Greater convenience with online tools to manage your care and payments
We’re Here for You!
We understand that change can be a little overwhelming, but we believe this investment will make your experience at North Valley easier, safer, and more transparent.
Our staff is ready to help guide you if you have any questions.
Thank you for your continued trust in us. We’re committed to making this transition as smooth as possible and look forward to delivering an even higher standard of care and service.
State and Federal Budgets:
We have been getting a lot of questions about the proposed cuts to healthcare funding at the State and Federal levels. Local hospitals and nursing homes are particularly vulnerable to cuts to Medicaid due to the high level of need in our community.
If you are interested in learning more, consider joining our monthly Board meeting on the last Thursday of every month at 7pm, or reaching out to your elected officials.
Road Construction Update:
We are a few weeks into the road construction project and are happy to report it is going better than expected. Parking and access can still be a challenge but we appreciate everyone’s patience during the disruption.
